About Lindau Oktoberfest
Lindau Oktoberfest — edition 2026
The 61st edition of the Lindau Oktoberfest, from September 4 to 6, 2026, will once again transform the festival grounds at Ludwig-Kick-Straße into a multi-day folk festival experience by Lake Constance.
The festival ceremony begins with booming shots from the Royal Privileged Marksmen's Society, followed by the festival parade and the ceremonial tapping of the first keg by the district administrator. Friday and Saturday feature dance evenings, while Sunday is designed as a family day with a dedicated children's program. Wiesn-Gaudi with a Lake View
The Lindau Oktoberfest is one of the most atmospheric folk festivals on the Bavarian shores of Lake Constance. The venue is the festival grounds at Ludwig-Kick-Straße in Lindau, Lindau (Bodensee) district, in the state of Bavaria. For three days, Upper Bavarian Wiesn tradition merges with the special flair of the Lake Constance region.
Festival Ceremony in Bavarian Tradition
The festival ceremony follows the classic Bavarian sequence: booming shots from the Königlich Privilegierten Schützengesellschaft (Royal Privileged Marksmen's Society) open the festival, followed by the festival parade and the official tapping of the first keg by the incumbent district administrator. In the large festival tent, brass and party music ensure a lively atmosphere.
Program for All Generations
The Lindau Oktoberfest offers a varied program:
- Dance evenings on Friday and Saturday in the festival tent
- Family Sunday with a dedicated children's program
- Oktoberfest amusement park with rides and stalls
- traditional attractions like "Hau den Lukas" (Hit the Strongman) and shooting galleries
- carousels and face painting for the younger guests
Lindau and Lake Constance
Lindau (Bodensee) is known as a Bavarian island town at the tri-border area of Germany–Austria–Switzerland. The Oktoberfest combines rustic Bavarian customs with its lakeside location – a combination that sets the festival apart from classic Wiesn festivals in inland areas and attracts visitors from the entire Lake Constance region.
