Three days of Wiesn-Gaudi by Lake Constance
The Lindau Oktoberfest is one of the most atmospheric folk festivals on the Bavarian shores of Lake Constance. The venue is the festival grounds at Ludwig-Kick-Straße in Lindau, Lindau (Bodensee) district, in the state of Bavaria. For three days, Upper Bavarian Wiesn tradition merges with the special flair of the Lake Constance region.
The festival ceremony follows the classic Bavarian sequence: booming shots from the Königlich Privilegierten Schützengesellschaft (Royal Privileged Marksmen's Society) open the festival, followed by the festival parade and the official tapping of the first keg by the incumbent district administrator. In the large festival tent, brass and party music ensure a lively atmosphere.
The Lindau Oktoberfest offers a varied program:
Lindau (Bodensee) is known as a Bavarian island town at the tri-border area of Germany–Austria–Switzerland. The Oktoberfest combines rustic Bavarian customs with its lakeside location – a combination that sets the festival apart from classic Wiesn festivals in inland areas and attracts visitors from the entire Lake Constance region.
The 61st edition of the Lindau Oktoberfest, from September 4 to 6, 2026, will once again transform the festival grounds at Ludwig-Kick-Straße into a multi-day folk festival experience by Lake Constance.
The festival ceremony begins with booming shots from the Royal Privileged Marksmen's Society, followed by the festival parade and the ceremonial tapping of the first keg by the district administrator. Friday and Saturday feature dance evenings, while Sunday is designed as a family day with a dedicated children's program. The Oktoberfest amusement park with rides and stalls invites visitors on all three days.
Fri, Sep 4: Festival parade, cannon shots, keg tapping by the district administrator, dance evening. Sat, Sep 5: Dance evening in the festival tent. Sun, Sep 6: Family Day with children's program. Throughout: Amusement park with rides, "Hau den Lukas", shooting galleries, carousels, and face painting.
Admission to the festival grounds is generally free. Food and drinks in the festival tent and amusement rides are subject to charge. On Family Sunday, there are often reduced prices for amusement rides.
Lindau is located on the eastern shore of Lake Constance, accessible via the A96 and B31 motorways. Train stops are Lindau-Reutin or Lindau-Insel. Parking is available at Ludwig-Kick-Straße and at the Valentin-Heider-Gymnasium.
