From September 18 to 20, 2026, the Korbmarkt will once again transform the city center of Lichtenfels into an international stage for weaving culture. Weavers and basket makers from all over the world will present their craft.
Friday evening will feature a festive opening with an entertainment program, and the market will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday, September 20, is also a Sunday with open shops.

City of Basket Makers
Lichtenfels, in the Lichtenfels district of Upper Franconia, bears the epithet "City of Basket Makers". The Lichtenfelser Korbmarkt is the city's largest and most traditional festival, and at the same time the most significant international market for weaving culture. The event transforms the city center into a "vibrant stage for craftsmanship, culture, and encounters".
Weaving Culture as World Cultural Heritage
Weaving culture has been recognized as intangible cultural heritage in Bavaria since 2016 and is listed in the national directory. In Lichtenfels, the craft is kept alive through the vocational school for weaving design and international knowledge networks.
