Franconian Wine in the Basket Town
The Lichtenfels Wine Festival has developed into a popular summer highlight in the Upper Franconian district of Lichtenfels within just a few years. For four days, the historic market square of the Basket Town invites visitors to linger: with a glass of Franconian wine, culinary specialties, and live music. The festival is organized by Stadtmarketing Lichtenfels.
Exquisite Franconian Wines
The focus is on selected Franconian wines, served in a cozy atmosphere on the market square. Lichtenfels is located on the Upper Main river, just a stone's throw from the Franconian wine region, bringing regional wine culture to the city. The enjoyment is accompanied by gastronomic offerings around the square.
Top-Class Stage Program
On the festival stage, guests can expect a varied music program with cover rock, pop, and the greatest hits of past decades – music to listen to and dance to. The festive opening on Thursday evening is traditionally accompanied by the Franconian Wine Queen and the Lichtenfels Basket Town Queen.
Accompanying Program and Town Festival Character
Parallel to the wine festival, the popular Obermain Weaving Culture Run takes place, combining the weaving culture (basket weaving) that defines Lichtenfels with a sporting run. Thus, the wine festival becomes a weekend that combines enjoyment, music, and local identity, attracting guests from the entire Obermain-Jura region.
Lichtenfels Wine Fest — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Lichtenfels Wine Festival spans four days, from Thursday, June 18, to Sunday, June 21, 2026, on Lichtenfels' market square. The festive opening takes place on Thursday at 6:30 PM; Franconian Wine Queen Angelina Seiler and Lichtenfels Basket Town Queen Anna I. are expected. Over the four festival days, guests can look forward to a diverse stage program with cover rock, pop, and hits from past decades, alongside exquisite Franconian wines and culinary specialties. The Obermain Weaving Culture Run will take place concurrently. Admission is free.
