The village festival of the community of associations in the Rathaushof
Zell am Main is located directly west of Würzburg and, especially in summer, feels like its own little cosmos: framed by vineyards, situated on the Main river, with a historic town centre and a remarkably vibrant club culture. The Laurentiusfest is their big joint appearance – supported by the AG Laurentiusfest, the umbrella organisation of the local clubs.
The festival is named after Saint Lawrence, the patron saint of the Catholic parish church of St. Lawrence. His feast day falls liturgically in August (August 10th). However, the associations have chosen the last weekend in June – fitting the summery character of an open-air courtyard festival.
The venue is the Rathaushof in the centre of Zell am Main. The inner courtyard, enclosed by old walls, offers an intimate, characteristically Franconian backdrop – a mixture of inn garden atmosphere and town square sociability that is hard to find elsewhere.
A special feature of the festival is its biennial rhythm: in odd-numbered years, Zell celebrates the Laurentiusfest, and in even-numbered years, the Zeller Kulturmeile. This ensures that each event remains special and the associations have enough capacity to manage high-quality editions. 2026 is a Laurentiusfest year.
2026 is a Laurentiusfest year in Zell am Main. The AG Laurentiusfest has published the festival calendar for the weekend of June 13th and 14th. The opening will be on Saturday afternoon from 3 p.m. with the official festival opening. Sunday starts in typical Franconian style with the Weißwurst breakfast from 11 a.m., followed by Frühschoppen (morning pint) and a varied programme until the afternoon.
The associations will treat their guests to Franconian specialities, Franconian wine from the Zeller Berg vineyard, and beer. Live music, a programme for children, and encounters with volunteers shape the atmosphere in the Rathaushof.
Detailed programme items will be published on zell-main.de in the weeks leading up to the festival.
