One Night — The Entire Offenburg Cultural Landscape

The Lange Nacht der Kultur is the newest of Offenburg's cultural events and has become a fixed spring date after its first two editions. Concept: On one Friday evening, all important cultural institutions in the city open their doors simultaneously, with free admission. Visitors can stroll through the city center on their own and discover what appeals to them at their leisure. From classic museum visits to concerts and theater, to interactive hands-on stations.

Participating Venues

The central cultural institutions of Offenburg are involved:

• Städtische Galerie — contemporary art, often with interactive stations
• Kunstverein Offenburg — temporary exhibitions
• Stadtbibliothek — readings, crime rally, gaming zone in the youth library
• Reithalle — concerts, performances
• Musik- und Kunstschule — live music, hands-on workshops
• Volkshochschule (VHS) — language and creative workshops
• Salmen — historic democracy monument (1847: demands of the people) with guided tours on Jewish history and democracy history
• Stadtarchiv — insights into original documents
• Museum im Ritterhaus — city history with children's courses

Program Highlights — Silent Disco and Crime Rally

Over the years, individual stations have become audience favorites:

• The Silent Disco is now a permanent fixture and attracts a mixed audience of dance enthusiasts
• The crime rally for children aged six and up in the Stadtbibliothek — an interactive puzzle throughout the building
• The hands-on stations at the Städtische Galerie (e.g., creating your own still lifes)
• Guided tours on Jewish history and democracy history at the Salmen

Offenburg — Gateway to the Black Forest, Capital of Ortenau

Offenburg (Ortenau district, AGS 08317), with around 60,000 inhabitants, is the capital of the Ortenau region, located on the western edge of the Black Forest in the Upper Rhine Plain. The city has a dense cultural scene with its own city museum, the Salmen as a symbol of the 1847 bourgeois revolution, and an active gallery and music school scene. The Lange Nacht der Kultur brings this distributed scene together for one night — a typical concept that has been established in Germany's major cities since the 1990s and has found its own, Baden variant in Offenburg.
