A City Celebrates Its Culture
The Lange Nacht der Kultur is Heilbronn's largest cultural event, taking place every two years. On Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 5:00 PM to midnight, the city's cultural institutions will open their doors together, inviting visitors to a seven-hour exploration of Heilbronn's cultural landscape. Over 30 venues — museums, theaters, galleries, concert halls, churches, project spaces, studios, and open-air stages — will present their own programs for the evening, ranging from concerts and readings to performances.
Kunsthalle Vogelmann and the Municipal Museums
The focus will be on the Heilbronn Municipal Museums around the Kulturareal an der Allee. The Kunsthalle Vogelmann at Allee 28 — the cube-shaped building by Swiss architect Felipe Rodriguez, opened in 2010 — will showcase its current temporary exhibition until midnight. The Museum im Deutschhof will open its permanent exhibition on Heilbronn's city history and offer guided tours of the archaeological collection. The Stadtarchiv will present historical documents and special collections, often combined with readings or lectures.
Theater in a Double Pack
Theater Heilbronn — the city's three-division house — will offer a cross-section of its season: short production highlights, workshop discussions with directors and actors, and backstage tours. The Theaterschiff Heilbronn, a traditional independent stage on a converted ship in Heilbronn's harbor, will present cabaret highlights and readings. The Hofkeller-Theater and Klingenmühle, smaller independent stages, will also participate in the program.
Galleries, Kunstverein, Studios
A particular strength of Heilbronn's Lange Nacht is the openness of its galleries and studios. The Kunstverein Heilbronn will present its current exhibition with extended opening hours and artist talks. Several small galleries in the city center — Galerie Voigt, KunstWerk, Galerie M — will showcase works by their artists. Numerous Heilbronn artists will open their studios to visitors, offering insights into their workspaces and discussing their ongoing projects.
Music and Spoken Word
Musically, the Lange Nacht is extremely diverse. Die Harmonie, Heilbronn's concert and congress center located next to the Kunsthalle Vogelmann, will feature classical and jazz programs. Churches and chapels will host choral performances and organ concerts. Open-air stages in front of the Kilianskirche and on the Marktplatz will feature local pop, rock, and indie bands. Spoken word stages with Heilbronn slam poets and poetry artists will be set up at Theater Heilbronn and in the Klingenmühle.
