Open Air in the Middle of the Eifel

The Glückstal Open Air is one of those village open-airs that shape the musical summer weekend in North Rhine-Westphalia – supported by an active brass band that finances its club life through the proceeds of the festival. The organizer is the Blasorchester St. Cäcilia Mutscheid – a music club from the Mutscheid district of Bad Münstereifel, which has been inviting people to the neighboring village of Willerscheid for years on the last weekend of July.

Bad Münstereifel is a historic small town in the Euskirchen district (Cologne administrative district), located deep in the North Eifel – known for its medieval old town, its spa tradition, and the City Outlet Bad Münstereifel initiative. Willerscheid and Mutscheid are small hillside districts belonging to the larger municipality of Bad Münstereifel. The rural location, the starry sky over the Eifel, and the atmosphere of an open-air stage overlooking the hills of the Eifel National Park make the Glückstal Open Air unique.

FLASHBACK — Cover Band 2026

Headliner 2026 is FLASHBACK – a cover band that stages its performances as a "musical journey through your childhood, youth." On the program: Pop, Rock, Variété – classics from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s that get audiences of all generations singing along. Cover bands are the backbone of such village open-airs: they know their audience, they play hits, they create the dance floor atmosphere that an original band often cannot achieve.

The Glückstal Open Air remains true to its village festival character: €5 in advance, €8 at the box office – prices that are absurdly low for a professionally organized open air, but uphold the promise of an event by and for the village community. The proceeds go directly to the Blasorchester St. Cäcilia Mutscheid: for instruments, sheet music, rehearsals, and the promotion of young musicians.

Location and Travel

Willerscheid is located about 10 kilometers southeast of Bad Münstereifel center, on the heights of the North Eifel. Bad Münstereifel itself can be reached from Cologne in about 70 minutes by the Erfttalbahn (RB 30) – from there, continue by car or taxi to Willerscheid. By car: A 1 exit Bad Münstereifel or via the L 165 from the A 61. Advance ticket outlets: Gaststätte Prinz, BFT-Tankstelle Kemmerich, Raiffeisen-Tankstelle (all Mutscheid/surroundings).
