48th edition of the traditional festival in the Märkische Schweiz — three days of marching, brass band music, and dancing
When the Waldsieversdorf Hunter's Festival begins, every family in the village knows the routine: march from the water tower, opening at the festival tent, evening dance party. For decades, the Waldsieversdorf Heritage Association has organized this festival, which will enter its 48th edition in 2026. For three days, the festival meadow on the path to Krummen Pfuhl becomes the focal point of the small community on the edge of the Märkische Schweiz.
Friday is dedicated to the opening: a parade marches from the water tower — Waldsieversdorf's landmark — to the festival meadow. The "Night of Youth" begins there with live music and a fireworks display. On Saturday, a breakfast hike starts the day, followed by a concert by the Buckow-Waldsieversdorf brass band, regional live music (most recently with musician Prabath), and an evening dance party. Sunday crowns the weekend with the traditional Hunter's Festival run and a musical auction.
Waldsieversdorf is located in the Märkisch-Oderland district on the edge of the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park — one of Brandenburg's most charming landscapes with beech forests, small lakes, and rolling hills. The village has around 1,500 inhabitants and is now a well-maintained district of the Märkische Schweiz administrative area. The water tower — the starting point of the traditional march — is one of the village's landmarks.
The Waldsieversdorf Heritage Association is the organizer of the festival, coordinating the entire program on a voluntary basis. This makes the Hunter's Festival a prime example of the strength of civic association life in small Brandenburg communities — a festival supported not by an event agency, but by the village community itself.
The 48th Waldsieversdorf Hunter's Festival adheres to the established three-day concept: Friday march and Night of Youth, Saturday hike and concerts, Sunday run and auction. The organizer is the Waldsieversdorf Heritage Association.
Unlike large tourist events, the Hunter's Festival is a true village celebration — driven by the dedication of the local associations and families.
