Lower Bavarian Volksfest Tradition
The Landauer Volksfest is the major annual Volksfest (traditional folk festival) of the town of Landau an der Isar in the Dingolfing-Landau district (state of Bavaria, Lower Bavaria administrative region). Traditionally, it takes place around the Peter and Paul festival weekend (end of June) on the Volksfestplatz an der Harburger Straße (festival grounds) and is one of the firm social highlights of the region.
Festival Tent, Alpine Hut, and Rides
The festival activities are spread across the festival grounds, the large Festzelt (festival tent), and the Almhütte (alpine hut). In the festival tent, bands provide a traditional atmosphere, accompanied by hearty specialties like Brathendl (roast chicken) and Steckerlfisch (skewer fish), draft beer, and Bavarian delicacies. On the grounds, carousels, bumper cars, and other rides spin for young and old.
