Tips
Download the flyer with the map in advance – the distances between participating locations can be significant. Three to six studios in one day is realistic. The artists appreciate conversations and also small purchases; many original works are offered at fair prices.
A District Opens Its Studios
The district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf is located in the east of Berlin and, with its six sub-districts Marzahn, Hellersdorf, Biesdorf, Kaulsdorf, Mahlsdorf, and Helle Mitte, is one of Berlin's largest districts. Once a year, artists open their studios and workshops to the public – a district whose creative scene often stands in the shadow of the city center, revealing itself in all its diversity on this day.
Free Admission, Galleries Open
While the artists open their workshops for one Sunday – usually from 10 am to 6 pm – the district's galleries are also accessible free of charge. These include, among others, Galerie M, Schloss Biesdorf, Galerie 100, and Studio im Hochhaus. This creates a tour that combines studio visits and gallery exploration.
11th Edition and Growth
The 2026 edition will be the 11th since its inception. Annually, around 100 to 150 artists participate, some working in studio complexes, others in private residential studios. The range extends from established Berlin painting to young printmaking workshops and intermedial performance spaces.
Organizers
The event is organized by the Department of Culture of the Marzahn-Hellersdorf District Office in collaboration with the studio association and individual studio houses. Registrations for participating artists are accepted until mid-March; the detailed flyer with all locations will be published in early May 2026 at kunst-offen.info.
