Concert Summer in the Bavarian Forest
Kultur im Schloss is one of the most traditional concert series in the district of Cham in the state of Bavaria. Organized by the market town of Neukirchen beim Heiligen Blut, it takes place in the Pilgrimage Museum at Marktplatz 10 – a historically significant site in the well-known pilgrimage town of the Bavarian Forest.
Concept and Venues
From May to early October, there is a concert every Wednesday at 7:30 PM. Performances are held in the Pflegersaal of the Pilgrimage Museum or, in good weather, in the atmospheric castle courtyard. Over an entire season, this amounts to around two dozen concerts.
Musical Diversity
The program is deliberately broad: classical chamber music with string quartet and piano, jazz, blues, world music, rock, and Bavarian folk music. The artists come from diverse regions of the world, including Gambia and Chile – a conscious international bridge-building in the heart of the Bavarian Forest.
Award and Tradition
The series has been organized by the municipality since 1992 and was awarded the Culture Prize of the Bavarian Forest Cultural Association in 2025 for its high quality. Free admission makes the sophisticated program accessible to everyone.

Culture at Castle — edition 2026
The 2026 concert season of Kultur im Schloss begins on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, and runs until early October. A total of 24 Wednesday evenings, each at 7:30 PM, will feature concerts in the Pflegersaal of the Pilgrimage Museum or, in good weather, in the castle courtyard on the market square. In addition, there will be a special concert on Whit Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 2 PM. The program includes classical chamber music (string quartet, piano), jazz, blues, world music, rock, and Bavarian folk music with artists from around the world, including from Gambia and Chile. Admission is free.
