Mulled Wine with a Sea View
The Kühlungsborner Wintermarkt is one of the most famous Christmas markets on the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea coast. Its location directly on the pier forecourt, with the illuminated pier and the Baltic Sea in the background, makes it unmistakable.
Program
Over several weeks, stalls offering mulled wine, punch, hearty and sweet specialties, and arts and crafts are featured. The stage alternates between live music, choirs, Advent singing, and a children's program. A lantern parade and the traditional Advent singing complement the program.
Advent Market and New Year
Additionally, the traditional Advent market takes place on the first Advent weekend in the Konzertgarten West. On January 1st, the pier forecourt is once again dedicated to the Wintermarkt from 11:00 AM, followed by the New Year's swim at the pier at 2:00 PM.
Local Context
Kühlungsborn is located in the Rostock district and, with over three kilometers of beach promenade, is the largest Baltic Sea resort in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Wintermarkt extends the tourist season well into winter and symbolizes the "fourth season" with which the Baltic Sea resort now actively promotes itself.
Wintermarkt — edition 2026
From November 27th, 2026, to January 3rd, 2027, the pier forecourt in Kühlungsborn transforms into an expansive winter market. Throughout the season, stalls offering mulled wine, punch, sweet and savory treats, and arts and crafts line up. The stage program includes live music, an arts and crafts market, a children's program, a lantern parade, and Advent singing. The market is complemented by the traditional Advent market in Konzertgarten West on the first Advent weekend. On January 1st, 2027, the market reopens from 11:00 AM, followed by the New Year's swim at 2:00 PM at the pier.

By the Bäderbahn Molli or regional bus from Rostock and Bad Doberan. By car via the A20 (exit Bad Doberan).

Mon–Thu 4:00 PM–9:00 PM, Fri–Sun 11:00 AM–9:00 PM. December 24th from 11:00 AM–4:00 PM; December 25th and 26th from 11:00 AM–9:00 PM. Free admission.
