Open-Air concerts in the historic castle courtyard — Silly, Nino de Angelo, Saltatio Mortis, Matthias Reim
Every summer, the Konzertsommer Oranienburg transforms the historic castle courtyard of the North Brandenburg district town into an open-air concert stage. The organizer is HMG Concerts from Dresden. The 2026 edition features four concerts between July 24 and September 5, 2026 — a concentrated, curated format that utilizes the special setting of the castle courtyard with just a few, but high-caliber, evenings.
The opening act will be Silly with their "elektro AKUSTIK Open Air Tour 2026" accompanied by Julia Neigel. Silly, founded in the GDR and reconfigured after the death of Tamara Danz with Anna Loos as singer, is one of the defining bands of East German pop and rock history. The electro-acoustic tour version reduces the songs to their essence while simultaneously expanding them with electronic sound layers — perfect for the intimate castle courtyard.
On the following day, July 25, 2026, Nino de Angelo will perform his program "Un Momento Italiano" — an Italo-pop journey from the Schlager hits of the 1980s to newer pieces inspired by the Sanremo Festival. Nino de Angelo has been a staple of German-language Schlager since his hit "Jenseits von Eden" (1983); his current Italo program showcases an almost cinematic side of his stage repertoire.
After the summer break, on September 4, 2026, the German medieval rock band Saltatio Mortis will perform their major "Burgentour 2026 — Staub & Schatten". Saltatio Mortis has been a key act in the German-speaking medieval rock scene since 2000, and with their mix of bagpipes, electric guitars, and punk energy, they are one of the genre's most influential groups. The Oranienburg Castle courtyard is an ideal stop on their castle tour — historic walls, open-air, medieval soundtrack.
The finale on September 5, 2026, will be Matthias Reim with his anniversary tour "Verdammt, ich lieb Dich!". The hit was released in 1990 — the 2026 tour celebrates 35 years of his career with the great Schlager classics.
Oranienburg is located in the Oberhavel district, about 35 km north of Berlin, easily accessible by S-Bahn line S1. Oranienburg Castle was built in the 17th century by Elector Friedrich Wilhelm for his Dutch consort Louise Henriette — the first baroque palace complex in Brandenburg. The castle courtyard regularly opens its doors for open-air events today — and the concert summer is the most important of them.
