Culture on the Danube

Niederalteich in the district of Deggendorf is known beyond the region for its significant Benedictine abbey and baroque monastery basilica. Against this impressive backdrop, on the vast Klosterwiesen along the Danube, the Klosterwiesen OpenAir takes place – a summer event that enriches the cultural location of Niederalteich with an atmospheric open-air format.

A Concert Against a Special Backdrop

The open-air event is organized by the association Kultur.Boden Niederalteich e.V. in collaboration with Eulenspiegel Concerts. For 2026, the Bavarian cabaret artist and actress Luise Kinseher is announced as the main act – known, among other things, as the long-time "Mama Bavaria" at the Nockherberg Singspiel. Her program combines pointed cabaret with musical interludes.

From Construction Site Concert to Cultural Venue

The 2026 OpenAir carries the character of a "construction site concert": the new Kultur.Boden as a permanent venue is scheduled for completion at the end of July 2026, and the summer concert on the Klosterwiesen is one of the first major events surrounding the emerging cultural site. The 2025 edition had to be canceled due to high production costs and low advance ticket sales – already purchased tickets remain valid for 2026 or can be refunded via Reservix.

Volunteer Cultural Work in Lower Bavaria

The Klosterwiesen OpenAir is an example of the commitment with which culture is made possible in communities in Lower Bavaria. Supported by an association and a local concert agency, it brings nationally known artists to the rural area of the Deggendorf district.
