Versmold Christmas Market — Town festival on the 3rd Advent

The Versmold Christmas Market is one of the cozy Advent markets in the Münsterland region. Expected on the third Advent weekend — December 11 to 13, 2026 — the historic market square and the adjacent church square will transform into a festive stage. The 45th edition took place in 2025; the exact date and detailed program for 2026 will be announced in the autumn by the city of Versmold and Versmold Verzaubert e.V.

Market Square and Church Square — Historic Setting

The Münsterstraße with its market square and the adjacent area around the church form the festive heart of the city. Decorated wooden huts, a central stage, the hut village area, and an ice rink on the church square structure the festival grounds. The small-town architecture of Versmold — brick and half-timbering — provides a special Christmas backdrop.

Program — Stage, Street Food, Family

The usual three-day format includes:

• Stage program — Music groups, choirs, dance performances, cultural contributions
• Food stalls — Bratwurst, mulled wine, punch, potato pancakes, candied almonds
• Hut village — Arts and crafts, gift items, regional products
• Carousel and children's train — Family attractions
• Ice rink on the church square — Skaters and curling enthusiasts

Ice Rink on the Church Square — Highlight for Families

The ice rink on the church square is one of the most popular attractions — it draws skaters of all ages and is also used for Eisstockschießen (a traditional Bavarian-Austrian winter sport). Together with the Christmas market, it forms a complete winter experience.

Versmold — Town in the Münsterland

With just under 21,000 inhabitants, Versmold (a town belonging to the district of Gütersloh, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a smaller town on the border between the Ravensberg hill country and the Münsterland. Versmold is primarily known as a sausage and meat products location — several large food processors are based here. In addition, the town has a vibrant cultural and commercial life, of which the Christmas market is one of the highlights.
