43rd Narrentreffen of the Kleggau Narrenvereinigung — Night parade with 29 groups, grand parade with 54 groups on Sunday
The Narrenvereinigung Kleggau comprises around 30 fool guilds and associations from the southwestern Black Forest, the High Rhine, and adjacent regions of Switzerland. Every year, the association convenes at one of its member associations for the grand Kleggau Narrentreffen — a central event of the Alemannic Fasnacht tradition. In 2026, the 43rd edition will take place in Küssaberg, a High Rhine municipality in the Waldshut district, organized by the three local associations: NV Kadelburger Fergen e.V., NV Reckinger Schnörrig e.V., and NV Küssaberger Rebesäck e.V. The event dates are Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1, 2026.
The festival weekend begins on Saturday, January 31, with a foolish-ecumenical church service at 6:00 PM. Afterwards, starting at 7:00 PM, the festival mile through the Rheinheim village center opens — festival tents, refreshment stands of the associations, snack bars, and drinks. The highlight of the evening is the night parade, which starts at 8:00 PM with 29 groups marching through Rheinheim. Witches with masks and torches, drum groups, music bands, and light installations transform the town into a truly foolish scene.
On Sunday, February 1, 2026, the main program unfolds. At 10:00 AM, the guild master welcomes invited guests from friendly fool guilds. From 11:00 AM, the festival mile opens again, and at 2:00 PM, the grand parade with 54 groups begins its march — the highlight of the weekend. The entire spectrum of Alemannic Fasnacht diversity parades through Rheinheim: witches with hand-carved wooden masks, devils, wild men, fool figures with local characters, music bands, and Guggenmusiken, as well as historical groups. The festival mile extends from the village center to the community center — those who walk the entire festival mile will have experienced Alemannic Fasnacht in its regional diversity.
Küssaberg (Waldshut district, postal code 08337, approx. 5,400 inhabitants) is located on the right bank of the Rhine opposite the Swiss town of Zurzach. The municipality includes the districts of Bechtersbohl, Dangstetten, Kadelburg, Küßnach, Reckingen, and Rheinheim — and Rheinheim is the venue for the Narrentreffen because this larger district has the necessary festival mile infrastructure and the community center. The historical term "Kleggau" refers to an old Alemannic county in the High Rhine region, which is now preserved as a cultural identity within the Narrenvereinigung.
The 43rd edition of the Kleggau Narrentreffen will be held in Küssaberg in 2026. The venue is the Rheinheim district with its festival mile and community center.
Saturday, January 31, begins at 6 PM with the foolish-ecumenical church service, followed by the opening of the festival mile at 7 PM and the night parade with 29 groups starting at 8 PM. By train: Take the Hochrhein-Bahn to Waldshut, then a bus to Küssaberg-Rheinheim. By car: A 98 / B 34 Hochrhein, exit Waldshut or Tiengen, then head towards Küssaberg.
