Eight Kabarett Evenings at the Kurtheater Bad Kissingen
The Kissinger Kabarettherbst has long been a fixture in the Franconian cultural autumn. Over eight evenings between the end of September and mid-November, Bayer. Staatsbad Bad Kissingen GmbH puts together a program that ranges from political Kabarett to musical performances to literary stage shows. Each evening is a solo production — the appeal lies in the diversity of voices.
The venue is the Kurtheater at Theaterplatz 1, right in the center of Bad Kissingen. The building, with its auditorium seating around 500, was built in the early 20th century and is considered an ideal stage for spoken-word and musical Kabarett due to its intimate acoustics. Performances regularly start at 7:30 PM.
With just under 23,000 inhabitants, Bad Kissingen is the largest town in the district of Bad Kissingen (Lower Franconia administrative region, Bavaria). Since 2021, the town and its spa district have been part of the UNESCO World Heritage site "Great Spa Towns of Europe". The Kabarettherbst builds on the cultural tradition of the spa town — where Brahms, Bismarck, and Tolstoy strolled in the 19th century, today the audience laughs about current events.
Unlike larger multi-day festivals, the Kabarettherbst is spread over almost two months. Each evening is a solo performance; the audience recognizes each other. Those who want to take a stroll in the Kurpark or hike along the Saale river in between have time for it. This makes the Kabarettherbst the perfect occasion for a combination of culture and a short break in the Franconian Saale valley.
The 2026 edition offers a classic Kabarett spectrum: political punchlines, musical solo programs, and literary-philosophical evenings. Lars Reichow opens with his program BOOMERLAND, Jochen Malmsheimer closes with Halt mal, Schatz!. Each evening starts at 7:30 PM at the Kurtheater on Theaterplatz 1.
Tickets for each date are available individually through the official festival website or the Bad Kissingen Tourist Information.
