The Kirchweih, known as "Kärwa" in Franconia, is one of the most important traditional festivals in the municipalities of Middle Franconia. Schwarzenbach is a district of the municipality of Burgthann in the Nürnberger Land district in the state of Bavaria. The Kärwa Schwarzenbach is an integral part of the village's annual customs.

Burgthann cultivates a particularly vibrant Kirchweih culture: throughout the summer, the municipality celebrates seven Kirchweihen in its districts – including Burgthann, Grub, Schwarzenbach, Oberferrieden, Ezelsdorf, Unterferrieden, and Mimberg. The Kärwa Schwarzenbach fits into this dense series of Kirchweihen and is a highlight in the district's summer festival calendar.

Three Days of Marquee and Customs

The Schwarzenbach Kärwa spans three days. The events in the marquee traditionally begin on Friday evening with the opening ceremony. Social gatherings, brass band music, Franconian specialities, and living Kirchweih customs characterise the following days. The Kärwa is a community-building village festival that brings the people of the district together.
