Early Summer Kirchweih in the Obermaintal
The Kirchweih in Obersdorf is the traditional Kirchweih of the small Hochstadt district of Obersdorf in the Lichtenfels district (Upper Franconia). Unlike the classic autumn Kirchweihen of the region, it takes place in early summer and combines Kirchweih customs with the Upper Franconian "summer Pentecost rhythm".
Festival Service and Three Festival Days
The festival begins with the Kirchweih service on the first day. This is followed by three days of festival activities in the participating inns and in the village center. Clubs, the parish, and innkeepers serve Upper Franconian delicacies – Bratwurst, Schäuferla, Krapfen – and regional beers. A brass band or regional bands provide the entertainment throughout the weekend.
Hochstadt a.Main and its Surroundings
Hochstadt am Main is a municipality in the Obermaintal, very close to the town of Lichtenfels and the Thuringian border. With its several districts, it maintains a dense chain of Kirchweihen throughout the year, of which the Obersdorf Kirchweih is considered one of the earliest known. It is an attraction for hikers and cyclists in the Obermaintal.

Four days of Kirchweih in the Hochstadt district: Friday opens the festival days with the Kirchweih service, from Saturday to Whit Monday, innkeepers and clubs open their festival stalls. Program with brass music, Upper Franconian delicacies, and family activities.

Getting There
Hochstadt a.Main is located on the B173 between Lichtenfels and Kronach. By car: A73 exit Lichtenfels-Süd, then B173 towards Kronach. Hochstadt-Marktzeuln train station on the Frankenwaldbahn line. Obersdorf district approx. 2 km from the main village.
