Mountain bike marathon through the trails of the Franconian Switzerland
The Franken-Bike-Marathon has been organized by RVC Trieb e.V. (Radverein Concordia Trieb) since the early 2000s and has become a firm fixture in the German mountain bike calendar. The specialist magazine "Bike — das Mountainbike-Magazin" has named the race one of the ten most beautiful MTB marathons in Europe with cult status. Start and finish are at the FC Trieb sports grounds at Karolinenstraße 27 in the Trieb district of Lichtenfels, directly on the B173.
The marathon offers three route lengths, so beginners and ambitious marathon riders alike will find their challenge:
In addition, there are youth and children's classes. The routes combine technically demanding, rustic Franconian trails with flowing sections and numerous forest paths through the forests of the Franconian Switzerland.
The Franken-Bike-Marathon is part of a whole bike festival weekend from Friday to Sunday. On Friday and Saturday, the Enduro-One race is on the program, complemented by a biker party and award ceremonies. The actual marathon on Sunday forms the sporting highlight. This creates a meeting point for the mountain bike scene with a festival atmosphere around the sports grounds.
The race routes lead through the varied landscape of the Franconian Switzerland with its trails, forests, and striking mountain ranges. For nature conservation and path rights reasons, the routes are only open on the event weekend and are published on-site only on the race weekend. Lichtenfels, known as the German basket-making town on the Upper Main River, provides the scenic backdrop for the race.
