Late Summer Kärwa in Western Middle Franconia
Langfurth, first documented in 1689, is located in the far west of the Ansbach district, near the border with Baden-Württemberg. The village does not have its own parish church, but rather a cemetery chapel and a privately endowed Catholic chapel. Nevertheless, Langfurth celebrates its Kirchweih with dedication – traditionally one week before the Kirchweih in Ammelbruch.
A Matter of Timing
The date of the Kirchweih follows St. Magnus' Day (September 6th): The Ammelbruch Kirchweih takes place on the Sunday around St. Magnus' Day, and the Langfurth Kirchweih accordingly one week earlier. In 1992, it was decided to move the Langfurth festivities forward by one week – since then, the Kärwa has fallen in the period from late August to early September.
Inn Kirchweih with Heart
The festival is brought to life by the local inns: The Gasthof Grüner Baum and the Gasthof Zweite Heimat host their guests in parlors, side rooms, halls, and beer gardens, offering delicious Franconian food and selected drinks. The Kärwa is opened with the beer tapping ceremony at the Grüner Baum.
