Village Kirchweih in the Sinngrund

Aura im Sinngrund is a small community in the Main-Spessart district in Lower Franconia, a member of the Burgsinn administrative association. The Kirchweih – also known as "Kerwa" or "Kirchweih" in Franconian dialect – is traditionally celebrated here every year and is the major social event of the village year.

Annual Tradition

The Kirchweih Aura im Sinngrund is held every year at the end of September. In 2025, it took place on September 26th. The annual recurrence is documented on the official website of the Burgsinn administrative association; the Kirchweih is part of the list of Franconian Kirchweih societies.

Supported by Local Clubs

Various local clubs ensure a rich cultural and social village life in Aura im Sinngrund – the Kirchweih is an important part of this tradition. As is customary at Franconian village Kirchweihen, the program includes a festival tent, hearty brass music, Frühschoppen, and convivial gatherings. The festival brings together the village community and residents from the surrounding Sinngrund villages.

The Sinngrund in the Spessart Nature Park

The Sinngrund is the valley of the Sinn river in the northern Spessart – an original low mountain range landscape in the Spessart Nature Park, characterized by meadows, forests, and streams. The small villages along the valley cultivate their customs with particular intensity. The Aura Kirchweih is an authentic example of lived Franconian festival tradition away from the major tourist crowds.
