Barnim Children's and Youth Festival Wandlitz

26 Years of Stage for Young Talents

The Barnim Children's and Youth Festival has been the most important stage for young talents in the northern Brandenburg district of Barnim since 2001. Supported by the Association Barnimer Kinder- und Jugendfestival e.V., the festival brings hundreds of children and young people between the ages of 4 and 18 onto a professional open-air stage every year — often for the first time in front of a large audience. The 26th edition will take place on Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10, 2026.

Location: Parking lot in front of the Wandlitz Lido

The venue is the parking lot in front of the Wandlitz lido at Prenzlauer Chaussee 154 — a generously sized open-air area directly on the idyllic Wandlitz Lake. The central main stage is equipped with professional lighting, sound, and screens, ensuring that what happens on stage is clearly visible even from the back. Both festival days start at 12:00 PM; the program runs until the early evening.

Program: Dance, Acrobatics, Variety

The focus is on dance and acrobatics. Groups from kindergartens, schools, dance schools, cheerleading clubs, hip-hop crews, and independent ensembles from all over the Barnim district perform on stage — from Bernau to Eberswalde, Wandlitz, and Werneuchen. The festival has an explicitly inclusive aim: from beginner ensembles to competitive groups, everything is represented. The two days will be hosted by Nina Coenen and Yasmin, who have been shaping the festival team for years.

Giant Slide, Bungee, and Family Catering

Around the stage, a recreational area is set up with a giant slide, bungee trampoline, bouncy castles, face painting, and craft and activity stations. Food trucks and club stands provide families with bratwurst, burgers, crêpes, ice cream, coffee, and cake. Admission to the entire festival is free — the festival is financed through donations, sponsors, and municipal funding from the town of Wandlitz and the Barnim district.

Wandlitz and the Lake

Wandlitz is a municipality in the north of the Barnim district, about 30 km northeast of Berlin. The Wandlitz Lake — on whose shore the lido is located — is one of the cleanest bathing lakes in Brandenburg and a classic excursion destination for Berliners. If you want to combine your trip to the festival with a first dip in the lake in May, this is the place to be.
