A Small Community Celebrates Its Children
Schnakenbek is a small municipality in the district of Herzogtum Lauenburg, located east of Lauenburg on the Elbe River. With a few hundred inhabitants, it is one of the most manageable municipalities in the district. The Schnakenbek Municipal Council organizes an annual Kinderfest (children's festival) specifically tailored for the youngest residents.
Three Hours of Fun for the Little Ones
The program is manageable but just right for the age group — three hours of afternoon program with classic children's festival staples:
- Painting plaster figures — each child can design their own figure and take it home
- Face painting — from tigers to butterflies
- Bouncy castle — for letting off steam
- Other entertainment options — varying depending on the year

Schnakenbek is located in the district of Herzogtum Lauenburg, the easternmost region of Schleswig-Holstein, right on the border with Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Lower Saxony. The Kinderfest is a typical example of close community engagement in small North German municipalities — no one is forgotten, everyone is invited, all Schnakenbek children are welcome.

As every year, the Schnakenbek Municipal Council invites all children of the community to the annual Kinderfest. The program is aimed at preschoolers and primary school children, but older siblings are also welcome.

2:00 PM — Opening
- Welcome by the municipal council
- Opening of the stations
2:00 PM — 5:00 PM — Hands-on Stations
- Painting plaster figures — figures will be provided, paints and brushes are ready
- Face painting — various designs to choose from
- Bouncy castle — open continuously
- Other entertainment — changing game options
