One night, one ticket, over twenty venues — concerts, readings, cabaret, techno-mass in the Old Town
The concept of the Lauenburg Culture and Pub Night is simple and brilliant: with a single ticket, all participating venues in the Old Town open their doors — no additional admission, no queuing at individual ticket counters, free movement between stages. The night begins at 4 PM with the official opening and ends at 2 AM with the aftershow parties.
The organizers divide the program into four strands:
Lauenburg/Elbe is a small town with around 11,500 inhabitants in the Duchy of Lauenburg district, directly on the Elbe river opposite Lower Saxony. The historic Old Town stretches along the Elbe riverbank — half-timbered houses from the 17th and 18th centuries, the harbor with the Maria Elisabeth Stiftshaus, the St. Mary Magdalene Church, the Schiffergesellschaft (Shipowners' Guild). For centuries, Lauenburg was an important inland port — the Lauenburg shipping culture is UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Culture and Pub Night transforms this dense historical substance into a walkable stage.
One of the most iconic program points is the techno-mass in St. Mary Magdalene Church — from 10 PM to 2 AM, it combines a DJ set, light installation, and liturgical elements in the medieval church. The format is a nationally recognized example of renewing church spaces through pop and club culture, and has been a crowd-puller in Lauenburg for years.
The 11th edition on March 21, 2026, was again completely sold out weeks before the date — a constant feature of the Lauenburg Culture and Pub Night for years. From 4 PM, the streets and squares of the Old Town filled up, and from 6:30 PM, the official stage program began.
Mayor Thorben Brackmann opened the night at 6:30 PM in the Osterwaldhalle. The opening was accompanied by a speed painting performance by Lauenburg artist Jan Balyon, who created a large-format picture live for the culture night.
The music program was spread across the Old Town: Stefan Schael as an Elvis Presley tribute with musical readings; Akio Le & Band with the jazz program "My Nat King Cole Story"; the Hamburg indie-pop formation Alma Cojo; the rock-comedy band GRINCH!; the Folk Rovers in the Irish Night; and Herr Könnig with swing sound from the 1920s–40s.
The late-night program had two focal points: the techno-mass in St. Mary Magdalene Church from 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM and the aftershow party with DJ Kai-Uwe Fischer from 11:00 PM. Both formats are part of the core identity of the Lauenburg Culture Night.
One ticket opens all venues. Advance sales were sold out weeks before the date.
By train: Lauenburg/Elbe station (regional train from Hamburg Central Station, approx. 1 hour, or from Lübeck via Büchen). From the station to the Old Town approx. 15 minutes downhill walk. By car: B5 or via A24 (exit Talkau), parking available at the train station and on the Wallhalbinsel.
One ticket = all venues. Advance sales via lauenburg-erleben.de and the Tourist Info. Note: The event has been regularly sold out for years — be sure to keep an eye on advance ticket sales. The 2026 edition was already sold out weeks before the date.
Official opening at 6:30 PM in the Osterwaldhalle with the mayor and a speed painting performance.
