Ostenfeld in North Frisia

Ostenfeld (Husum) is a small municipality in the district of Nordfriesland (Schleswig-Holstein), located east of Husum, in the Nordsee-Treene administrative district. With around 1,300 inhabitants, Ostenfeld is typical of rural North Frisian Geest: a mixture of agricultural farms, newer residential areas, and an active club scene. The Otto-Thiesen-School – a primary school with around 100 students – is the educational and event center of the municipality.

The Parents' Initiative as Organizer

The Kinderfest Ostenfeld is not a professionally organized major event, but a classic school festival, supported by a parents' initiative. The parents of the Otto-Thiesen-School organize the festival on a voluntary basis – setup, sales stands, game stations, and supervision are handled by mothers and fathers. The event is open to all children in the community, not just students of the Otto-Thiesen-School.
