The Königsbronn Community Festival at the Rathausvorplatz

The Children's and Street Festival is the summer highlight of Königsbronn's festival culture. Three days of events centered around the Rathausvorplatz — opening on Friday evening with music, Children's Festival on Saturday, and Family Sunday with an ecumenical service at the Hammerschmiede. The next edition runs from July 17 to 19, 2026, organized by the municipality of Königsbronn together with local clubs.

The Schedule — DJ Opening, Children's Festival, Traditional Music

Friday evening, July 17, kicks off with DJ Verspielt at 6 PM at the Rathausvorplatz — a relaxed opening event with an aperitif character, ushering in the festival weekend. Saturday, July 18, is dedicated to the classic Children's Festival starting at 1:30 PM: game stations, bouncy castle, face painting, and performances by local youth groups and clubs bring families from all over the community together. In the evening, a live band or DJ takes the stage.

Sunday, July 19, begins at 10 AM with an ecumenical open-air service at the historic Hammerschmiede — an industrial monument of Königsbronn's iron guild history and one of the most atmospheric locations in the municipality. At 11 AM, the Trachtenkapelle Kolbnitz plays at the Rathausvorplatz, providing the traditional Sunday morning sound. Catering is available at the club stands all day.

Königsbronn's Event Calendar 2026

The Children's and Street Festival is one of several festivals in Königsbronn's calendar. Before and after are the Waldfest Ochsenberg on July 5, the Kinderfest Zang on June 27, and the Kinderfest Ochsenberg on July 4 — a series of smaller district festivals that fill the municipality's summer program. The year concludes with the Nikolausmarkt am Klosterhof in December.

Königsbronn in the Heidenheim District

Königsbronn is a municipality with around 7,000 inhabitants in the Heidenheim district of the state of Baden-Württemberg, located in the Brenz valley on the edge of the Swabian Jura. The municipality is known beyond its borders for Georg Elser — the Königsbronn carpenter who carried out the assassination attempt on Hitler in Munich's Bürgerbräukeller in 1939. The Georg Elser Memorial at the source of the Brenz river and the Hammerschmiede as an industrial monument are the identity-defining sites of the municipality. The Children's and Street Festival takes place in the immediate vicinity of these historical sites.
