4th Children's Music Festival Gütersloh 2026 — the crème de la crème of children's music

On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 11 AM, the Gütersloh Theater hall will transform into a concert stage for children. At the 4th Children's Music Festival, five renowned artists from the German-language children's music network kindermusik.de will perform together — a unique format that brings the most important stars of the scene onto one stage.

The Five Artists 2026

Suli Puschban

One of the most famous German children's musicians, based in Berlin with a Yiddish-Austrian background. Her songs combine wordplay, empowerment messages, and clever adult humor — children's music that also takes parents seriously. Well-known albums: “Stimmen aus dem Off", “Bestechung", “Mit allen Sinnen".

Raketen Erna

A Berlin-based children's songwriter with punk and indie roots. Her songs are about strong girls, courage, being different, and big dreams. A hallmark: her energetic live performances, where children can dance and sing along.

Ich & Herr Meyer

The duo from the Ruhr area is known for intelligent song lyrics, acoustic instrumentation, and a touch of comedy. "Herr Meyer" is a stuffed puppet and co-singer — a child-friendly version of the ventriloquist concept. Performances in numerous theaters, schools, and festivals.

Nica Neulich

Singer-songwriter from northern Germany, one of the voices of the young children's music generation. Her songs combine poetic lyrics with folk-pop sound and are aimed at children from preschool age.

Randale

A real children's punk rock band from Wuppertal that has been delighting families for over 15 years. With three adult musicians on guitar, bass, and drums, Randale is Germany's only authentic children's punk rock band — loud, cheerful, and unconventional.

Festival Format

At the Children's Music Festival, all five artists perform one after another with short sets on the theater stage. The format resembles a day festival on a miniature scale — every child gets an impression of the entire spectrum of German children's music. Between sets, there are interactive elements, sing-alongs, and opportunities to meet the artists.

For What Age?

Recommended from age 6. Some artists (e.g., Suli Puschban, Nica Neulich) are also suitable for older primary school children up to 12 years old; Randale and Raketen Erna work for all ages.

kindermusik.de — The Network Behind It

The network kindermusik.de was founded in the early 2000s to professionalize the German-language children's music scene and create a space for sophisticated children's concerts off the mainstream. Today, it includes over 50 active artists from across the German-speaking world (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) — from the coast to the Alps. The network organizes several festivals annually and supports the booking of artists for theaters, schools, and festivals.

Theater Gütersloh — The Venue

The Theater Gütersloh is one of the most modern municipal theaters in Ostwestfalen — a new building opened in 2010 on Friedrichstraße with a flexible theater hall for around 500 spectators. It stages classic drama productions, dance guest performances, concerts, and an extensive children's and youth theater program. The box office can be reached at (0 52 41) 2 11 36 36.

Michaeliswoche Gütersloh — The Context

The Children's Music Festival is part of the annual Michaeliswoche in Gütersloh — a week of festivities around the Catholic St. Michael's Day (September 29). The week brings together a city festival, funfair, public program, and cultural highlights, and is one of Gütersloh's most important city festivals. Program and information from Gütersloh Marketing.

Gütersloh — Business City in Ostwestfalen

The district town of Gütersloh, with around 102,000 inhabitants, is located in the Gütersloh district in Ostwestfalen, southwest of Bielefeld. It is home to the Bertelsmann Group, the Miele works, and the Pfleiderer wood industry — one of Germany's economically strongest medium-sized cities. Culturally, the Theater Gütersloh, the city library, the city museum, and numerous festivals such as the Klangkosmos World Music Festival, the Lesefrühling, and the Children's Music Festival shape its image.
