Summery neighbourhood festival between Paulus Church and Parkring bridge
Neu-Tempelhof is a residential area in the Tempelhof district (Tempelhof-Schöneberg borough), which originated as a garden city settlement during the Weimar Republic and remains a clearly defined quarter to this day – with its own points of identification such as the Protestant Paulus Church and the Parkring, a loop-shaped street that encircles the quarter. The Kiezfest is one of the most important dates in the summer quarter calendar.
The festival is jointly organized by four initiatives: the Protestant Paulus Church community (community centre and rectory garden), Parkring e.V. (residents' association), KuKuK e.V. (cultural initiative), and Futur:ista e.V. (sustainability and future initiative). This broad base of organizers also explains the festival's thematic scope: ranging from a classic community festival (coffee and cake in the rectory garden) to a cultural program (live music, dance) and discussions on sustainable urban development and local history.
The festival usually takes place on a Saturday in summer (July), in the afternoon and early evening. Local musicians and dance groups perform on a small stage in the area between Paulus Church and Parkring bridge; a ska band is also traditionally featured as the musical highlight of the evening. Around the stage, there are stands from the participating associations, the Neu-Tempelhof History Workshop, scouts, and the Organ Support Association. The children's program includes games and craft activities.
Catering is co-organized by the Paulus Church community: coffee and cake in the rectory garden, barbecue buffet with salads, non-alcoholic drinks. Prices are at cost – the festival is financed primarily by the funds of the organizing associations and a small district grant, not from sales revenue.
The 2026 edition will follow the established format of recent years: a summer afternoon, jointly supported by four initiatives from the neighbourhood, featuring a classic Kiezfest program with a stage, catering, and children's activities. The exact date will be announced by the organizing alliance in advance.
Those wishing to attend in 2026 should consult the website of the organizing alliance (gemeinsam-in-tempelhof-schoeneberg.de) and the notices in the Paulus Church and around the neighbourhood from spring onwards. Communication is primarily local – the festival is clearly aimed at the residents of Neu-Tempelhof and the surrounding neighbourhoods.
The date, stage program, and stand lineup for 2026 have not yet been published at the time of research. Program components based on experience:
