Big children's and family festival in the Kämmerei-Quartier
When the Kämmerei-Quartier in Blumenthal opens its gates on the first weekend of September, the day belongs to the children. On the grounds of the former wool combing mill – today a vibrant quarter in Bremen North – a huge festival is created with a stage program, talent competition, bouncy castles, trampolines, bungee run, water games with the youth fire brigade, and countless hands-on stations from clubs and scouts. A children's flea market, a popular drawing competition, and a football tournament for the youngest round off the program.
The one-day children's festival of the first edition has become a two-day neighborhood festival, which also caters to teenagers and young adults on Saturday evening with a talent competition, laser show, live band, and DJ sets. Over twenty groups – local businesses, clubs, artists – create the program together. Food, drinks, and a carousel provide a festive atmosphere. Kids Day is thus much more than a children's program: it brings an entire district together.
Blumenthal, located in the far north of Bremen on the Weser river, is a district with strong civic engagement. Kids Day is a visible expression of this culture of participation – supported by volunteers, connecting generations, and open to all. Admission is free; donations benefit neighborhood work.
On September 5th and 6th, 2026, the Kämmerei-Quartier in Blumenthal will once again become a large children's and family festival. Saturday (10:00 AM–12:00 AM) and Sunday (11:00 AM–6:00 PM) will feature stage shows with dance and gymnastics, a talent competition, trampolines, bouncy castles, ball games, water activities with the youth fire brigade, a football tournament for the youngest, and the popular drawing competition. Clubs, scouts, and neighborhood groups will organize workshops and hands-on stations. Food and drinks will be available on-site, and admission is free.
Specific band names, magic shows, and performance details, as well as the 2026 schedule, will be announced before the festival on buergerstiftung-blumenthal.de and via the Bremen North event pages (bremen-nord.de).
The Kämmerei-Quartier is located at An der Wollkämmerei in the Blumenthal district of Bremen. Arrival by Regio-S-Bahn (Blumenthal station) and Bremen North bus lines is recommended.
Admission is free. Donations for neighborhood work are welcome.
Two-day event: Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 AM (with evening program for teenagers), Sunday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
