Kölsche Top Band Kasalla for SC Selfkant's 10th Birthday — Open-Air Concert in Sportpark Höngen
The SC Selfkant is the result of the merger of three traditional sports clubs in the western Heinsberg district. In 2026, the club celebrates its 10th anniversary — and is turning the round jubilee into a two-day event format in Sportpark Höngen. Highlight: the open-air concert by the top Kölsch band Kasalla on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Since its founding in 2010, Kasalla has been one of the most successful Kölsch bands of the modern generation. Their mix of rocking energy, Kölsch dialect, and emotional lyrics ("Pirate", "Stadt met K") regularly fills venues like the Lanxess Arena. For a small sports club in western Heinsberg, this performance is a real coup — and a clear sign that rural NRW can also attract major acts.
On Friday evening, August 28, 2026, SC Selfkant kicks off the weekend with the club's second musical production: "Oh wie Heimat ist das Selfkantland" — a self-produced show with local lyrics and music that stages the region's sense of identity. On Saturday, August 29, 2026, the open-air concert follows with the main act Kasalla, preceded by the supporting program:
The Sportpark Höngen is the club center of SC Selfkant — football pitches and club buildings in Höngen, one of the districts of the sprawling municipality of Selfkant. For an open-air event with a top act, the grounds are temporarily transformed into a concert stage — grandstands, stage, backstage, and catering.
Selfkant, with around 10,500 inhabitants, is the westernmost municipality in Germany — it juts out like a peninsula into the Netherlands. Despite its geographically peripheral location, the municipality in the Heinsberg district has a vibrant club scene, and SC Selfkant, with three merged founding clubs, is one of the largest clubs in the area.
The Heinsberg region in western North Rhine-Westphalia is a sometimes underestimated area between Aachen, Mönchengladbach, and the Dutch border. Events like the Kasalla concert give cultural visibility to the self-image of this region — and attract visitors from all over western NRW as well as from the neighboring Dutch regions.
The anniversary concert is the cultural highlight of a two-day festival weekend for SC Selfkant. Kasalla brings Kölsch dialect rock to the western Heinsberg region — embedded in a locally rooted supporting program.
