Carnival in the Rhein-Wupper Region
Langenfeld is located in the Mettmann district, directly between Düsseldorf and Cologne, placing it within the most vibrant Carnival landscape of the Rhineland. The city cultivates its own, rather family-oriented Carnival tradition, with several Carnival societies and a central Carnival parade on Carnival Saturday (instead of the traditional Rose Monday). This makes it special – if you want to be in a parade between Cologne and Düsseldorf on a Saturday that isn't overcrowded, Langenfeld is the place to be.

Langenfeld – A Rhenish Carnival City with its Own Profile
Langenfeld (approx. 60,000 inhabitants) is located in the Mettmann district, directly on the A3 motorway between Düsseldorf and Cologne. The city is connected to both Carnival strongholds via S-Bahn and bus, but it boasts its own distinct urban and club life. Carnival here isn't an imported tradition from Cologne but has grown organically – and you can feel it in the parade: less tourism, more local community spirit.
