Classical chamber music in the artists' colony on the Baltic Sea
The Kammermusiktage Ahrenshoop have been organized by the Kulturstiftung Ahrenshoop e.V. since 2014 and are now among the most distinguished chamber music festivals on the German Baltic coast. Every October, the Schifferkirche, Hotel Fischerwiege, Kunstmuseum Ahrenshoop, and other venues transform into concert halls.
The program ranges from J. S. Bach's Goldberg Variations in a string trio arrangement to works by Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Bartók, Messiaen, Martinů, Kovács, and Piazzolla. International soloists and ensembles perform in various configurations – including returning artists Florin Paul (violin/viola), Petru Iuga (double bass), Horia Dumitrache (clarinet), Olga Scheps (piano), Cristian Niculescu (piano), and Alexandra Paladi (violin).
Complementing the concerts, the Kammermusiktage offer readings and film evenings, making the festival a multidisciplinary journey between music, literature, and film. A masterclass in singing, led by soprano Adina Nitescu, traditionally concludes the festival with a final concert.
Ahrenshoop is located on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula in the Vorpommern-Rügen district (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). The artists' village combines over a century of visual arts tradition with a vibrant musical culture. The historic Schifferkirche from the 18th century, with its distinctive timber beams resembling ship hulls, is the festival's most impressive venue, both acoustically and atmospherically.
The 2026 Kammermusiktage Ahrenshoop will open their doors from October 21 to 25 in the artists' village on the Baltic Sea. Concerts will be held in the Schifferkirche Ahrenshoop, Hotel Fischerwiege, and other intimate venues. The organizer is the Kulturstiftung Ahrenshoop e.V.
The program features, among others, a concert with Florin Paul (violin and viola), Petru Iuga (double bass), and Horia Dumitrache (clarinet). The repertoire includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Giovanni Gabrielli, Tibor Kovács, Astor Piazzolla, Joseph Haydn, and Béla Bartók. Accompanying readings and film evenings; a masterclass in singing led by Adina Nitescu will round off the festival.
