Getting There
Take the AKN train (A1 Hamburg-Eidelstedt–Kaltenkirchen) directly to Kaltenkirchen, festival grounds are a 10-minute walk away. By car, take the A7 (exit Kaltenkirchen). Parking is available in the town center and on the outskirts of the festival grounds.
Admission
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Rides and game stalls are charged individually.
Kaltenkirchen in the Segeberg District
Kaltenkirchen is a medium-sized town with around 23,000 inhabitants in the Segeberg district in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, directly on the A7 motorway between Hamburg and Neumünster. The town is an economic and growth center for the northern Hamburg metropolitan region — and has hosted its large Jahrmarkt (annual fair) on the first weekend of September for over a century.
The Festival Grounds
The festival grounds on Norderstraße transform into a Volksfest landscape with around 80 exhibitors for four days. At the center are the large rides:
- "Viva Mexiko" — Carousel with a Mexican theme
- "Dancer" — Spinning ride with acceleration
- "Jumper" — Jump ride
- Bumper cars "Uhse's Speedway" — A classic for all generations
- New attractions for 2026: "Crazy Jumbo" and "ULTIMATE"
- Six children's rides for younger families
Food and Atmosphere
Marquees with beer, bratwurst, fries, crêpes, almonds, gingerbread hearts — the full North German Kirmes experience. Families can find seating in the marquees, and live music is played on stages in the evenings.
Accessible Tour on Monday
A special tradition of the Kaltenkirchener Jahrmarkt: On the final Monday (2:00 PM), there is an accessible tour for people with disabilities — the showmen slow down the rides, reduce the noise, and ensure easy access without crowding. An inclusive gesture that sets the Jahrmarkt apart from many other Volksfests.
