30 Years of Lived Community — Three Days of Stage Program, ABBA Tribute, and Parade Around the Grüner Markt
The 2026 Stadtfest is no ordinary event: it celebrates the 30th anniversary of Kaltenkirchen's largest public event — and at the same time serves as the setting for the 70th anniversary of the Kaltenkirchen Brass Band. Mayor Stefan Bohlen sums up the motto: 30 years of Stadtfest – that means 30 years of lived community, voluntary commitment. The organization is managed by a working group of clubs, politicians, and the city administration.
Friday is dominated by the JuHs-Stage with live music and activities for young people, followed by the official opening at 7 p.m. and a performance by Boerney & die Tri Tops. Saturday is the day for the local music scene: performance by the three winners of the city music competition "Kaki Vibes" at 7 p.m., a show block in the afternoon at 3 p.m. with the anniversary concert of the Kaltenkirchen Brass Band, and in the evening the big Waterloo – ABBA Tribute Show. Sunday opens with an ecumenical service at 10 a.m., followed by the accordion orchestra, a lost-and-found auction, and a performance by guest groups from the partner city Putlitz in Brandenburg.
With around 22,000 inhabitants, Kaltenkirchen is a growing medium-sized town in the Segeberg district of Schleswig-Holstein, about 35 kilometers north of Hamburg. For three decades, the Stadtfest has been the social highlight of the year — taking place at the Grüner Markt and Rathausplatz in the city center, which will be closed to traffic during the weekend.
The Stadtfest focuses on free hands-on activities for children, club stands, food stalls, and several stages. Admission to all program points is free — this has been part of the festival's ethos since 1996.
As in previous years, the city center around the Grüner Markt and Rathausplatz will be closed for the festival weekend. Several stages will provide a dense program with club stands, food stalls, and hands-on activities for children. The organizers are the city of Kaltenkirchen and the Stadtfest working group, which includes, among others, the Kaltenkirchen Turnerschaft von 1894.
By car via the A7 (exit Kaltenkirchen). By train via the AKN line A1 from Hamburg-Eidelstedt to Kaltenkirchen, a ten-minute walk from the station to the Grüner Markt.
Free admission to all program points.
The city center around the Grüner Markt and Rathausplatz will be closed for the festival weekend — parking is available on the outskirts of town and at the train station.
