About Käfertal Christmas Market

On the first Advent weekend, the Kulturhaus Käfertal in Mannheim-Käfertal invites you to the traditional Käfertal Christmas Market. Around 30 stalls on the premises at Gartenstraße 8 offer crafts, creative upcycling, homemade cookies, oils, and Advent decorations. The event is organized by the community association of Käfertal clubs together with the cultural centre — neighbourhood schools, kindergartens, and Mannheim associations participate in the programme. On Saturday evening, the traditional mulled wine evening with tarte flambée and live music attracts visitors. Admission is free, with free parking directly at the cultural centre. The date for 2026 is expected to be the weekend of the 1st Advent (28–29 November 2026); official confirmation is still pending.

Käfertal Christmas Market — Neighbourhood Tradition since the 1990s

The Käfertal Christmas Market is a typical Mannheim neighbourhood Christmas market: not a large tourist event like the Mannheim Christmas Market in front of the Water Tower, but an intimate, family-friendly event for the Käfertal district — supported by the Kulturhaus Käfertal and the community association of Käfertal clubs. The event has been running since the late 1990s and is one of the fixed Advent dates in Mannheim's Nordstadt. The 27th edition took place in 2024.

30 Stalls, Crafts, Upcycling, Homemade Specialities

Around 30 exhibitors set up their stalls on the outdoor grounds and in the rooms of the cultural centre at Gartenstraße 8. The offerings are deliberately craft-oriented: handmade jewellery, creative upcycling, woodwork, pottery, felt crafts, homemade jams and liqueurs, cookies and stollen, oils and vinegars, Advent arrangements, and Christmas decorations. Neighbourhood schools and kindergartens participate with their own stalls — crafts, baked goods, and small items made by the children go to the supporting association.

Mulled Wine Evening and Children's Programme

On Saturday evening from around 7 PM, the traditional mulled wine evening is celebrated with tarte flambée and live music — the acoustic highlight of the weekend. For children, there are craft activities, stories, a meeting café on Sunday, and occasionally a visit from St. Nicholas. The cultural centre provides food and drinks all day with warm meals, coffee, and cake.

Mannheim-Käfertal — The Neighbourhood

Käfertal, with around 26,000 inhabitants, is one of the largest districts of Mannheim (independent city in the Rhein-Neckar district, city code 08222) and is located in the northeast of the city. The historically independent place was incorporated into Mannheim in 1897. Today, Käfertal is a mixed district of old farmhouses, Wilhelminian-era houses, and newer residential areas — the Kulturhaus Käfertal, with over 100 events annually (concerts, theatre, exhibitions, courses), is its cultural heart.

Free Admission, Good Accessibility

Admission to the Käfertal Christmas Market is free. Free parking directly at the cultural centre. Accessible by tram lines 1 or 7 (stop Käfertal Bahnhof) or by S-Bahn line S2.

Käfertal Christmas Market — edition 2026

The 29th Käfertal Christmas Market in 2026 will traditionally be held on the first Advent weekend, expectedly Saturday and Sunday, 28–29 November 2026. Around 30 stalls in the outdoor area and rooms of the Kulturhaus Käfertal will offer crafts, creative upcycling, homemade cookies, oils, and Advent decorations. On Saturday evening, there will be a mulled wine evening with tarte flambée and live music. Admission is free. Exact dates will be confirmed by the Kulturhaus in autumn 2026.

Käfertal Christmas Market 2026 — The 29th Neighbourhood Market
