World's leading trade fair for food, agriculture and horticulture – the 100th anniversary in 2026 under the Funkturm
The Internationale Grüne Woche – IGW or Grüne Woche for short – is one of Berlin's oldest and largest continuously held trade fairs. First held in 1926, it was originally a purely Berlin-based specialist event for agriculture and forestry. Today, it is the world's leading trade fair for food, agriculture, and horticulture, with over 1,400 exhibitors from more than 60 countries worldwide.
Over 26 halls are spread across the ExpoCenter City at the Funkturm. The main focuses are: Experience Farm (Hall 3.2, German agriculture to touch and feel), International Hall (Hall 8.2, country presentations from all over the world), Animal Hall (horses, cows, sheep, poultry to see and pet), Federal States Hall (regional German specialties), Flower Hall (horticulture and floristry showcases), Hall for Wine and Spirits, Organic Hall.
The 2026 edition marks the 100th anniversary. Messe Berlin and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture have announced an expanded program – special exhibitions on the history of the IGW, honors for long-standing exhibitors (some present since 1926 without interruption), and celebratory events. The parallel Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA), with agriculture ministers from over 70 states, is considered the most important agricultural policy summit worldwide.
What makes the IGW special: It is both a trade and public exhibition. In the mornings and during the week, trade visitors dominate, while in the afternoons and especially on weekends, families from Berlin and all over Germany fill the halls. Sampling at the country stands is a genre of Berlin's January city life during the day. IGW tickets are among the best-selling trade fair tickets in Berlin.
The 100th edition of the Grüne Woche runs from January 16 to 25, 2026 – ten days of trade fair focusing on food, agriculture, and horticulture. Over 26 halls at the ExpoCenter City host exhibitors from more than 60 countries worldwide. The highlights, as in previous years, include the Experience Farm in Hall 3.2, the International Hall 8.2 with country presentations, the Animal Hall, the Federal States Hall with regional German specialties, the Organic Hall, and the Flower Hall.
For the 100th anniversary, expanded special programs are announced: historical special exhibitions, honors for long-standing exhibitors, and celebratory events. The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) takes place parallel to the trade fair – the world's most important agricultural policy summit with ministers from over 70 states.
