The world's largest meeting for the East German cult car
The International Trabant Meeting Anklam has been organized by the Trabbi-Buggy-Club Anklam e.V. since 1996 and is now the largest Trabant meeting worldwide. The venue is Anklam Airport, which becomes a vast campsite for Trabbi enthusiasts and their vehicles over Ascension Day. In 2025, organizers counted 1,218 vehicles and around 6,200 visitors.
The multi-day festival offers a packed program: election of Miss and Mister Trabant Meeting, quarter-mile acceleration races in ten categories, Sexy Carwash, Boom Car competition, burnout show, tuning demonstrations, concerts with East German rock and Schlager bands, and DJ parties into the night. Classically restored Trabbis, Wartburgs, and Barkas models are also represented.
The meeting attracts Trabant lovers from all over Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, and beyond to Anklam. GDR nostalgia, technical interest, and festival atmosphere combine to create a unique format. Trabant drivers appreciate the convivial character and the opportunity to exchange spare parts and experiences.
Anklam is located in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) on the Peene River. Anklam Airport, a former NVA airfield, offers space for thousands of vehicles and motorhomes on its extensive grounds. The rural location and the short distances to the Hanseatic city of Anklam make the meeting particularly attractive for campers.
The 31st International Trabant Meeting Anklam transforms Anklam Airport into a huge Trabbi campsite from Wednesday, May 13, to Sunday, May 17, 2026 (Ascension Day). The organizer is the Trabbi-Buggy-Club Anklam e.V.
