One of Saxony's Oldest Open-Air Stages
The Insects and Spiders OpenAir has been held for many years on the historic forest stage in Börnichen Castle Park — a concert arena in the forest, naturally grown, and one of Saxony's oldest open-air stages. Börnichen/Erzgeb. is a district of the town of Oederan in the Erzgebirgskreis district. The organizer is Stadtmarketing Oederan e.V., led by Dr. Marco Metzler. The festival is part of the regional cultural landscape and was additionally supported in 2025 by the program of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.
Two Days, Two Stages, Free Admission
From Friday, August 7th, 2026, to Saturday, August 8th, 2026, the festival runs on two stages at the forest stage — a main stage and a smaller second stage — with programming until the early morning hours. Stylistically, the festival covers a broad spectrum: Indie rock, newcomer pop, world music, electronic — many regional bands from Saxony, plus German-speaking newcomers and international guests. Admission, camping, and parking are free — this is one of the festival's hallmarks.
Family Afternoon and Aftershow with Coach L.
Saturday, August 8th, 2026, begins at 2 PM with a family afternoon: comedy performances, archery, entertainment for children. The main stage program only starts in the late afternoon. Both evenings traditionally end with an aftershow featuring Coach L. — the specific musical house style of the festival crew. Camping is available directly on the festival grounds in the castle park; basic sanitary facilities are provided.
Saxony, Erzgebirgskreis, and Börnichen
Börnichen/Erzgeb. is located in the Erzgebirgskreis district in Saxony, on the northern edge of the Ore Mountains, south of Chemnitz. The district belongs to the town of Oederan and is characterized by forests, the former castle park, and the forest stage. Those arriving by train can come via Oederan (Erzgebirgsbahn); by car via the B173 or A4 (Frankenberg / Hainichen exit). The festival is an exceptional point in the Saxon summer festival calendar — free, art-affine, discreetly uncommercial.

Two Days of Festival at the Forest Stage
