The municipality of Illingen is located in the north of the Neunkirchen district, along the Ill river — one of the characteristic streams of the Saarland midlands. When the crocuses bloom in the front gardens and the first Sunday afternoons in the café garden become conceivable, it's time for the Illinger Frühling: a half-day spring and Easter market on the Neuen Markt, the central square of the municipality.

Market with Character

The concept is manageable and charming: regional exhibitors offer handmade products, spring and Easter decorations, culinary specialties, and gift ideas. Instead of an anonymous large market, Saarland florists, woodworkers, beekeepers, and felt and ceramic artists present their works. The atmosphere is cozy and family-friendly.

Easter Bunny and Circolo Stilt Theatre

For children and families, the event is enriched with a fixed program. From 12 PM to 2 PM, the Easter Bunny is on the market distributing surprises. The Circolo Stilt Theatre, a colorful walkabout troupe from the greater region, parades through the market with a "Garden Parade" — impressive costumes, acrobatics, and choreography on stilts, a highlight for children and adults alike.

Music Stage and Duo Sonett

On the music stage, Bodo Keading and Herry Weiland perform with their duo "Sonett" — gentle acoustic pop and folk fitting the spring atmosphere. The music accompanies the market activities without overshadowing them.

Open Sunday Shopping

Parallel to the market, Illingen's retailers open their shops from 1 PM to 6 PM (open Sunday shopping). Many visitors combine a market stroll and shopping for a relaxed family Sunday.
