Hubertusfest — Season Finale in the Shooting Calendar

The Hubertusfest on the third Saturday in October is a classic date in the Rhineland-Westphalian shooting tradition: It marks the festive end of the season after the major summer shooting festivals and is dedicated to Saint Hubertus of Liège — the patron saint of hunters and marksmen. The Schützen-Verein Wethmar von 1900 e.V. maintains this tradition with an annual Hubertusfest at its own Schützenhaus Wethmar in northern Lünen.

Program: Procession, Service, Dance

The format follows the classic Rhineland-Westphalian Hubertusfest dramaturgy: Procession from the assembly point to the shooting hall with the club banner and flag, Hubertus service or devotion related to the patron saint, ceremonial speech with honors for deserving members, and dance music in the festival hall. The event runs from 6:00 PM to 11:45 PM — compact, but ritually complete.

The Schützen-Verein Wethmar von 1900

The Schützen-Verein Wethmar was founded in 1900 and celebrated its 125th club anniversary in 2025 with the grand shooting festival on the Pentecost weekend. With over 600 members and active youth work, the club is one of the defining associations in northern Lünen. In addition to the Hubertusfest, the annual Pentecost shooting festival and several district events are the highlights of the club year.

Wethmar — District of Lünen in the Unna District

The district of Wethmar is located in the north of the city of Lünen in the Unna District (Westphalia). The Schützenhaus Wethmar is the club's meeting and festival venue and is occasionally available as an event location for external occasions.
