The volunteer-driven youth festival in the Rhododendron Park — one last time
Horn to be Wild is one of those festivals that wouldn't exist without volunteer commitment. Since 2015, young adults aged 19 to 30 from the youth cultural association Horn have been organizing the open-air event in Bremen's Rhododendron Park — with the goal of providing a stage for regional emerging artists and creating a special community experience. On September 5, 2026, the eleventh and final edition will take place. After eleven unforgettable years, it's time to say goodbye.
The Main Stage and Side Stage primarily feature emerging acts from the region. In previous years, artists like Provinz, Alli Neumann, Mayberg, and ENNIO have performed on stage before gaining wider recognition. In addition to music, the concept includes food trucks, interactive installations, picnic areas, and a consciously inclusive, queer-friendly atmosphere. A wordless street theater comedy was also part of the program — Horn to be Wild is more than just a concert evening; it's a festival experience in nature.
The decision to end in 2026 is due to several reasons: a lack of new volunteers in the organization, limited city funding compared to other events, and declining sponsorship revenue. Many from the original team have already moved on. The association is already working on a new music and cultural project — the final edition of Horn to be Wild marks both an end and a new beginning.
The venue is the expansive Rhododendron Park in the Horn-Lehe district — one of Bremen's green lungs. The festival utilizes the park-like setting for a relaxed, typically Hanseatic, low-key open-air event with a picnic atmosphere.
