Summer garden party at the traditional Weingut Groebe Westhofen with estate wines and a relaxed atmosphere
Weingut Groebe is one of the established wineries in Westhofen and looks back on a long tradition of viticulture. With vineyards in some of the most renowned Westhofen sites (including the famous Kirchspiel and Brunnenhäuschen locations) and a modern style, the winery is among the quality-oriented players in the Rheinhessen wine scene. Riesling, Silvaner, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, and Spätburgunder form the classic range, complemented by sparkling wine creations and occasional experimental wines.
A Hoffest is the intimate version of a wine festival: Instead of a large festival mile with numerous exhibitors, a single winery opens its courtyard to the public. Guests are catered to and looked after by the winery itself, the wines served are exclusively from the estate, and the atmosphere is much more personal than at large events. Anyone who wants to get to know the wine philosophy of a single winery more intensively will find the Hoffest to be the ideal format.
The date, Saturday, June 13, 2026, starting at 3 p.m., is wisely chosen: June is the month with the longest days in Rheinhessen, the weather conditions are usually pleasant, and the summer mood is still fresh and inviting. Tables and benches are set up in the historic courtyard of the winery, the wines are presented for tasting, and small dishes are served. Cheese platters, bread with homemade spreads, regional sausage specialties, and sweet accompaniments complete the culinary offerings.
A special feature of the Hoffest is the personal encounter with the Groebe family and the winery staff. Unlike at a large event, visitors have the opportunity here to talk to the winemakers, ask questions about the individual wines, and gain insights into the winery's work. This personal component makes the Hoffest a true wine experience and not just a tasting event.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in early summer. The structure follows a classic Hoffest concept:
