Summer club festival in the castle and Luther town of Allstedt
The Heimatverein Allstedt e.V. was founded in 1991 and has since been dedicated to preserving and communicating the history and present of the small town of Allstedt. Its headquarters are located at Am Schild 17a – in the heart of the historic old town. The association maintains an archive, a photo gallery, small exhibitions (e.g., on the Allstedt cathedral clock or the local artist Karl Koppka), and publishes the local history journal «Lindenblatt» annually. The Hoffest is one of its most important public events – and in 2026, it will be celebrated for the 35th anniversary.
Allstedt lies on the eastern edge of the Mansfeld-Südharz district in Saxony-Anhalt, in the scenically beautiful Goldene Aue region between the Harz and Kyffhäuser mountains. The town is historically significant: in the 16th century, Allstedt Castle was the place of activity for the reformer and Peasants' War preacher Thomas Müntzer; here, in 1524, he delivered his famous «Sermon to the Princes». In 2025, the town was the focus of the statewide commemoration of «500 Years of the Peasants' War». In this tradition, the Heimatverein has established itself as a civil society custodian of local historical preservation.
The Hoffest is a classic club festival: tables and benches are set up in the courtyard, members and friends of the association come together, there is food from the grill and the club's kitchen, cool drinks, cake, and live music or brass bands from the region. The focus is less on spectacle and more on conversation – an example of how local heritage associations in Saxony-Anhalt contribute to the social and cultural life of small towns.
As 2026 marks the 35th anniversary of the association, an expanded program can be expected: a celebratory speech, a look back at the association's history, possibly a small special exhibition. The detailed program and start time will be announced by the association itself and through the municipal channels (allstedt.de).
The 2026 Hoffest combines two occasions: the traditional summer festival of the local heritage association and the 35th anniversary of the association's founding in 1991. In the association's courtyard at Am Schild 17a, members, friends, and guests from the Goldene Aue region gather for food, drinks, and live music from the region. For the anniversary, expect a short celebratory speech, a review of the association's work, and possibly a special exhibition in the association's room.
Allstedt is well worth a visit this weekend anyway: near the Heimatverein, Allstedt Castle, with its Thomas Müntzer tradition and its connection to the «500 Years of the Peasants' War» anniversary year 2025/26, is a major attraction. A visit to the Hoffest can easily be combined with a tour of the castle and the historic town center.
Detailed program and start time available at heimatverein-allstedt.de and the event calendar of the City of Allstedt.
