12th Kleinkunstfestival in the Slawendorf Brandenburg an der Havel — September 11–13, 2026, Free Admission
For years, the hEimWeRTs Festival has taken place in the Slawendorf on Neuendorfer Sand, a reconstructed early medieval village on the outskirts of Brandenburg an der Havel. Wooden houses, clay paths, fire pits, workshops: the setting is part of the program. Performing here means performing not on a stage, but in a living historical site — and hEimWeRTs uses this atmosphere for a special blend of art, craftsmanship, and encounter.
The festival was founded in 2013 by the association Kleinkunst Brandenburg e.V. The concept: a diverse mix of music, theater, cabaret, readings, circus, children's programs, workshops, and socio-political formats — without an entry barrier and without consumer pressure. The association finances the festival anew each year through sponsors, grants, and hat collections. The artists are paid — but the audience is not screened out. Democratic and humanistic values, cultural revitalization without social boundaries: this is how the association describes its mission.
Over the years, a proven program concept has been established. Music (from folk and jazz to singer-songwriter and electroacoustics), open-air theater, evening cabaret acts, small-group readings, a dedicated children's program with hands-on experiments, bicycle-powered play equipment, and a "color laboratory" for the little ones. Workshops on sustainability, integration, and inclusion complement the program — hEimWeRTs is not just a performance space, but also a forum for discussion. The exact artist selection for 2026 will be announced by the association in the weeks before the festival.
hEimWeRTs took a break in 2025 to reorganize structures and resources. The 12th edition in 2026 is therefore a conscious restart — the association is actively seeking new members and sponsors (Contact: [email protected]). Anyone wishing to experience a free, undogmatic cultural festival with Brandenburg roots is welcome on the second weekend of September in the Slawendorf.
The hEimWeRTs Festival returns in 2026 after a one-year break. In 2026, the association Kleinkunst Brandenburg e.V. is initiating a restart and announcing a three-day program in the Slawendorf. The exact artist selection is still in preparation as of Spring 2026 — the announcement traditionally takes place a few weeks before the event on the festival website and the association's Facebook page. The core elements of the festival remain the same: music, theater, cabaret, children's program, workshops on sustainability and inclusion, plus interactive formats for all ages.
