Homeland festival on the village green of the Spreewald suburb Prieros
The Heimathausfest Prieros is the annual summer festival of the dedicated Heimatverein Prieros e.V. It takes place at the Heimathaus in Prieroser Dorfaue 1 (Heidesee municipality, Dahme-Spreewald district) – a traditional half-timbered house with an attached local history museum, operated by the association. In 2026, the festival will run on Saturday, August 29.
The Heimathaus Prieros is a well-preserved farmhouse from the 18th/19th century, where the Heimatverein presents a collection of historical objects from daily life in the Mark Brandenburg: tools, traditional costumes, kitchen utensils, agricultural machinery, and memories of the German division (Prieros was located directly on the western half of Berlin and was affected by the construction of the Wall).
The Heimathausfest has the character of a classic Brandenburg homeland festival with the following elements:
Prieros is one of the largest districts of the municipality of Heidesee (Dahme-Spreewald district). The village is located at the northern tip of the Krimnicker See and at the transition between the Spreewald and the Dahme Lake District. With around 800 inhabitants, Prieros is a typical Spreewald suburb – attractive for day-trippers from Berlin and for nature park visits. The municipality of Heidesee was formed in 2003 from the merger of several villages.
The Heimatverein Prieros e.V. has been responsible for local remembrance and historical preservation for decades. It operates the Heimathaus, organises the spring excursion (April 25, 2026) and flea market (July 25, 2026), as well as the Heimathausfest. The Heimathaus is open from April to September on Saturdays and Sundays.
