About Heilbronn Volksfest
Heilbronn Volksfest — edition 2026
Heilbronn Volksfest July 3 to 12, 2026
From Friday, July 3rd, to Sunday, July 12th, 2026, the Heilbronn Volksfest will take place in its usual format on the Theresienwiese. The city of Heilbronn, or rather Heilbronn Marketing GmbH, is the organizer; admission to the festival grounds is free, as always.
The Göckelesmaier family's open-air concept remains the central culinary anchor – featuring Göckele grilled over beechwood charcoal and beer from Löwenbrauerei Hall. On the two festival Sundays (July 5th and 12th), the brass bands from Grombach and Kirchhausen provide traditional music. The chill-out area at the Theresienturm opens with drinks and live DJs – summer vibes above the rooftops of Heilbronn.

Heilbronn's Grand Volksfest on the Theresienwiese
For decades, the Heilbronn Volksfest has been one of the largest folk festivals in Northern Baden-Württemberg. From Friday, July 3rd, to Sunday, July 12th, 2026, the Theresienwiese – the traditional festival grounds below the Wartberg – transforms into a ten-day festival mile with around 100 rides, stalls, and showman's wagons. Admission is free, and travel is convenient via the S4 and S5 city trains (Heilbronn Pfühlpark stop).
Göckelesmaier Instead of a Beer Tent
A special feature of the Heilbronn Volksfest is the absence of a traditional beer tent. Instead of celebrating under canvas, you'll be in the airy open-air gastronomy area of the Göckelesmaier family, who also organize the Stuttgart Spring Festival and the Cannstatter Volksfest. The highlight is the grilled Göckele, crispy roasted over beechwood charcoal, paired with beer from Löwenbrauerei Hall – one of Baden-Württemberg's most renowned breweries. The concept is perfect for summer heat: shaded pavilions, plenty of fresh air, and wide benches.
Keg Tapping, Fireworks, and Family Days
The festival opens on Friday, July 3rd, 2026, with the traditional keg tapping ceremony. On the final day, Sunday, July 12th, a grand fireworks display crowns the weekend – the Wartberg slope offers natural grandstand seating. On both Sundays (July 5th and 12th), the brass bands from Grombach and Kirchhausen provide traditional music. The reduced-price days with discounted ride prices on Wednesdays make it family-friendly.
Chill-Out Area at the Theresienturm
New in recent years: A chill-out area with drinks and live DJs is set up at the Theresienturm – the observation tower on the edge of the Theresienwiese. Here, the Volksfest becomes less of a folk festival and more of a summer terrace with views over the Heilbronn countryside.
Heilbronn – Wine City on the Neckar
Heilbronn is the seventh-largest city in Baden-Württemberg (with over 125,000 inhabitants) and the administrative seat of the Heilbronn district. The city is located on the Neckar River, nestled in one of Germany's most important wine-growing regions – the Württemberg wine-growing area, Heilbronner Land section. The Volksfest is held every year in July, coinciding with numerous wine festivals in surrounding communities such as Brackenheim, Lauffen, and Erligheim.
