Spring Festival in Lower Franconia
The Haßfurt May Festival is an annual spring tradition in the heart of the Lower Franconian Main town of Haßfurt. Haßfurt is located in the Haßberge district on the Main river and has earned a reputation as a cultural center of the region with its medieval old town and the well-known Ritterkapelle (Knights' Chapel). The Maifest ushers in the warm season on the historic market square.
Market Square as Festival Grounds
On April 30th and May 1st, the market square transforms into a festival area with a stage program, spring market, Maypole raising (Maibaumaufstellen), and culinary stands. Associations from Haßfurt and the surrounding area participate in the program; local breweries and restaurateurs provide catering.
Integrated into the Festival Year
The Maifest is part of Haßfurt's rich festival calendar. In the following months, other important events take place: abend.licht Haßfurt (early June, free admission on the market square), the Haßfurt Long Night (early July, music and art festival), and the traditional Haßfurt Street Festival in early October.
