Handicrafts in the Historic Marstall
The Handgemacht-Markt im Marstall Putbus is a creative market in the Marstall – the former royal stable – in the Palace Park of Putbus. Putbus, the classicist white town in the south of the island of Rügen in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, provides a listed building ensemble that gives the market a special character.
Around 50 Exhibitors
Around 50 selected artists and craftspeople present their work in approximately 30 indoor and 30 outdoor spaces. The spectrum is broad: pottery and glass art, basket weaving and brush making, soap making, textile work, jewelry, wood art, and garden decorations made from driftwood. The exhibitors are carefully selected by the organizer – quality and craftsmanship are paramount.
Market over the Easter Weekend
The Handgemacht-Markt takes place over the Easter weekend – from Saturday to Easter Monday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily. Admission is free. The organizer is Handgemacht-Märkte, which counts the Putbus market among its most beautiful events – a date that attracts locals as well as Easter holidaymakers on Rügen.
Putbus and the Palace Park
The Putbus Palace Park is one of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's most important landscape parks. Together with the Marstall, orangery, and palace terraces, it forms the green heart of the residential town. The Handgemacht-Markt uses this ambiance, turning the Marstall into a stage for North German handicrafts once a year.
