The independent children's theatre scene on one stage
The Hamburger Kindertheatertreffen is the annual stocktake of Hamburg's children's theatre scene: Which productions set standards in the past season? Who experimented? What should young audiences absolutely see? The festival brings together a curated selection of plays from the last twelve months at three central venues.
Three venues, one scene
Performances take place at FUNDUS THEATER – research theatre at Sievekingdamm 3 in Hamm (subway Burgstraße); at HoheLuftschiff in Eimsbüttel; and at Flachsland Hamburger Puppentheater. These three venues exemplify the breadth of the Hamburg scene – research theatre, family theatre, and puppet theatre under one festival roof.
Accessible offerings 2026
In 2026, the festival will see a significant expansion: Thanks to additional funding, accessible offerings will be included in the programme for the first time – individual performances with audio description for visually impaired visitors and tactile tours before the performance, where props and stage sets can be felt.

A week of Hamburg children's theatre
The Kindertheatertreffen 2026 runs from Friday, February 20 to Thursday, February 26 at the Hamburg venues FUNDUS THEATER (Hamm), HoheLuftschiff (Eimsbüttel), and Flachsland Hamburger Puppentheater. The working group Hamburger Puppen- und Figurentheater and Kindertheaterszene Hamburg e.V. are bringing together a curated selection of the most exciting productions from the past season.

Confirmed Highlight
- Tue, February 24 – 10:00 AM – FUNDUS THEATER: "DANCE MACHINES" by Regina Rossi (ages 11+). A multimedia movement experience where the audience dances with the galactic-utopian avatars of two professional dancers in an analog-virtual space – with VR headsets and headphones.

- Morning performances – for school classes, with advance booking
- Afternoon and evening performances – for families
- Weekend program – performance blocks with family activities
